Looking for the Anti-Mimetic Doctors
Rethinking Medical Interventions, and the Courage to Do Less
I am pleased to publish this essay from a longtime reader. It comes partly as a response to my own reflection last summer, “Anti-Mimetic Medicine”, which I wrote while my wife Claire was pregnant with our first child. Since then, I’ve spoken to dozens of doctors and medical professionals while I continue to navigate a complex system to care for my father, who (many readers will know) is battling Alzheimer’s disease. I would like to continue this exploration and this essay series, which I believe is deeply related to the broader question of scientism in general. And with that, here is Daniel Turski, MD.
