Whatever a canceled person did and the process by which that person is canceled are independent variables. 

If you’ve been straining your eyes, bending your mind, or searching your soul for some level of proportionality between action and response, or even some semblance of correlation, I’m here to tell you that there is none.

This week I’m addressing so-called Cancel Culture—including why I’m never going to use that term again—through the lens of René Girard’s scapegoat mechanism.
