The Ride of Family and Emotional Systems—and the Drive Toward a Real Self
The truth is that most people ride the emotional systems they are embedded in without understanding how they really work.
I'm in the middle of a family house move this week (we needed a good baby room!), so I can't be 100% sure I'll get a normal essay written. But through the help of a good friend, I managed to track down one of the most important essays that I've read in a very long-time—published in The Atlantic in 1988—which I've linked to below in my RIDE/DRIVE newsletter. I'd love to explore the ideas of family systems theory more in future editions of Anti-Mimetic, and Kerr's article is the best primer I can imagine. -
