I just published a newsletter about 10 things I appreciated this past week, including learning the Italian slang word “Umarell”, which refers to men, usually retired, who stand around with hands behind their back watching construction projects--sometimes even giving advice. This activity is seen most frequently around Bologna, where the term originated. A ‘lil mimesis going on, maybe? I don’t know, but I think I am one, or am on my way to becoming one.
